How to use neem oil
1. Neem oil thickens when the weather is cool. Stand the closed bottle in warm water for a few minutes to loosen it.
2. Scalp: mix 1 teaspoon of neem oil with 3 to 4 teaspoons of a carrier oil such as coconut, castor or jojoba oil. Part your hair, massage it into the scalp, leave it for 1 to 2 hours or overnight, then wash it out.
3. Skin: add a few drops to your body oil or cream, or massage a small amount into dry areas.
4. Hair: add a few drops to your shampoo or conditioner.
5. Patch test on your inner arm and wait 24 hours before first use.
About the smell
Pure neem oil smells strong, nutty and a little like garlic. That is normal for cold-pressed, unrefined neem oil. Mixing it with a carrier oil softens the smell.
Safety
External use only. Do not swallow neem oil: it can be harmful if swallowed, especially for children. Keep it out of reach of children and away from the eyes. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask your doctor before use. Stop if irritation occurs.
