How to dilute frankincense oil
1. Face: 1 to 2 drops in 1 teaspoon (5ml) of carrier oil.
2. Body and massage: 2 to 3 drops in 1 teaspoon (5ml) of carrier oil, or about 12 drops in 30ml.
3. Bath: mix 5 drops into a tablespoon of carrier oil before adding it to the bathwater.
4. Room: add a few drops to a diffuser with water.
5. Patch test the diluted oil on your inner arm and wait 24 hours before wider use.
Safety
External use only. Do not swallow. Never apply it undiluted. Avoid the eyes and the inside of the nose and ears. Keep out of reach of children. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have a skin condition, ask your doctor first. Stop if irritation occurs.
Frankincense in Hausa
In northern Nigeria the native frankincense tree, Boswellia dalzielii, is called hano or ararrabi in Hausa, and its resin is burned as incense. Most frankincense essential oil is distilled from related Boswellia species.
