Goron Tula Benefits for Men: Sperm, Testosterone and What the Rat Study Really Found
guides

Of all the claims made for gorontula (goron tula, snot apple), the ones about men have the most research behind them, and it is still only animal research. In a 2026 study, male rats given a water extract of the fruit for four weeks had better sperm counts and movement, and higher testosterone and FSH. A rabbit study found the pulp helped sperm quality recover after chemical damage. No study has yet given goron tula to men and measured anything, and the rat study's own authors warned that high doses over a long time could harm the liver and testes. Below is what the studies show, the claims to drop, how to use the fruit sensibly, and what actually improves male fertility.

Goron tula benefits for men: what the studies show

  • Sperm and hormones (rats, 2026): 60 male rats were given the fruit extract at low to high doses for four weeks. The treated rats showed improved sperm count, motility and morphology, and higher testosterone and follicle-stimulating hormone. This is the best result goron tula has anywhere.
  • Protection after damage (rabbits, 2022): male rabbits exposed to a toxic chemical (BPA) and then fed the pulp showed better testosterone, LH and FSH and less sperm DNA damage than untreated animals. A rescue model, which is not the same as improving healthy animals.
  • The caveat sellers leave out: the 2026 rat study's authors wrote that high-dose, long-term use "may cause negative effects on liver and testis". The same study that supports the benefit also warns against taking a lot of it for months.
  • Human trials: none. No semen analysis before-and-after study in men exists.

Libido and "performance"

Goron tula is sold as a male aphrodisiac. The animal data above is about sperm and hormones, not erections or stamina. No study has measured erectile function or sexual performance in men. If you have erectile difficulties, the common causes are blood pressure, diabetes, stress, smoking and some medicines, all of which a doctor can address properly. An open question: the active compound

Scientists haven't settled which compounds in goron tula do what. One computer-modelling study pointed to gossypol, a compound found in the same plant family (cotton). That is worth knowing because gossypol from cotton seed is a well-known male anti-fertility agent at high doses, which once made it a candidate male contraceptive. Nobody has measured how much gossypol, if any, is in the fruit. The sensible reading: food amounts are fine, but don't take large daily doses for months, especially if you are trying to conceive.

How men use goron tula

  • Chewing one to three dried fruits a day, seeds removed.
  • Soaking the fruit in water or milk and drinking it.
  • Syrup, a spoon or two a day, made with dates and spices. See how to prepare gorontula syrup.
  • Powder in pap, oats or a smoothie, the easiest way to take a measured daily amount. See goron tula powder.

Keep to food amounts, take breaks, and stop if you get stomach upset. Full cautions are in gorontula side effects.

What actually improves male fertility

  • A semen analysis. It is cheap, quick and tells you where you stand. Many men never do one.
  • Stop smoking and cut alcohol. Both reduce sperm quality.
  • Keep the testes cool: less time with laptops on your lap, tight underwear and hot baths.
  • Healthy weight and blood sugar.
  • Treat infections and varicocele if found.
  • Check your medicines. Some drugs reduce sperm count or libido. Ask your pharmacist.

Goron tula is a reasonable food to add alongside these. It is not a reason to skip the semen analysis.

Frequently asked questions

Is goron tula good for men?

As a food, yes. For fertility, rat and rabbit studies show better sperm and hormone markers, but no study has tested it in men.

Does goron tula increase sperm count?

It did in rats over four weeks. No human semen study exists.

Does goron tula boost testosterone?

Testosterone rose in treated rats. This has not been shown in men.

Is goron tula an aphrodisiac for men?

It is sold as one, but no study has measured libido or erectile function in men. The animal data is about sperm and hormones.

Can men take goron tula every day?

Food amounts are reasonable, but the rat study warned that high doses over long periods may harm the liver and testes, so don't take large daily amounts for months.

Bottom line: Goron tula has the most promising animal data for men: better sperm and higher testosterone in rats, and recovery of sperm quality in rabbits. Nothing has been tested in men, the same study warns against heavy long-term use, and the active compound is still unknown. Enjoy it as a food, keep doses moderate, and get a semen analysis if fertility is the goal.
